The county border data used on this site is based on the Historic Counties Standard and is provided courtesy of the Historic Counties Trust as part of the County Borders Project. more information
Place Names Data
The place names data used on this site comes from two sources: a) the Association of British Counties Gazetteer of British Place Names, and b) Wikishire (wikishire.co.uk).
The Gazetteer of British Place Names is © the Association of British Counties, is updated periodically, and is available to purchase on this website. The Gazetteer data is used in the place names search and widget.
The Wikishire data is used on the County-Wise Map, including the search feature on the map. Further details about the data is available on Wikishire.
All of the data is based on the Historic Counties Standard maintained by the Historic Counties Trust.
